Data Retention Policy
How long we keep chat messages, hashed safety signals, moderation records, and other categories of data before deletion.
Version 2026-07-17Effective July 23, 2026Template — not legal advice
This page lists the categories of data YapperWoo processes and how long each is retained. Windows here are targets — actual times may vary during incident response or when required by law.
1. Retention windows
| Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous session record | Operate the service | Until the session ends or is revoked |
| Chat messages | Deliver to the other participant; support reports | Operational lifetime of the chat; deleted from active surfaces after the chat ends |
| WebRTC video / audio streams | Live call transport | Not recorded |
| Hashed IP / device signals | Rate limiting, ban enforcement | Rotating daily salt; cannot be reversed after rotation |
| Reports and moderation records | Enforcement, appeals, repeat-offender detection | Up to 24 months, or longer where required by law |
| Consent records | Audit that users accepted terms and confirmed age | Up to 24 months |
| Push-notification subscriptions | Send invitation notifications | Until you disable notifications or remove the connection |
| Analytics events | Product usage understanding | Up to 13 months, aggregated |
2. Deletion
Clearing your browser storage ends the anonymous session on your device. Because YapperWoo doesn't tie sessions to accounts, there is nothing to "delete" as an account — but you can request deletion of specific records tied to a session identifier by contacting our privacy team.
3. Legal holds
Where we receive a valid preservation request, related records may be retained beyond the ordinary window for the duration of the hold.
